Yup. I done it. I stole the title of this blog post straight out of G.O.T.
But it’s not about the ever popular Game of Thrones, although I did become enough of a fan this summer to put the published books on my Kindle.
Should be a couple months of reading, at least…
I can feel it coming. Winter, that is…not dragons or the Night King…
Well…maybe dragons…I’m still writing out a tutorial for my fellow Chainmaille Addicts…
I feel it every year, with varying intensity. As summer slips into Autumn, this seasonal change plays merry havoc with my sensibilities.
Every year.
I feel the shift from growth to winter prep. The trees, the grass, the bushes … everything shifts its focus.
I feel the heaviness. I need more sleep. I get very introspective, and start digging along the dark paths in my head.
It’s going to be a long winter here in Wisconsin based on how early this Autumn shift hit me…and the leaves haven’t started changing yet. I’ll try not to get too dark and introspective here on the T&T.
Here too it seems summer made a much too hasty exit. But! Always look for the but. But, the Old Farmers Almanac says we’re in for a particular warm and long Indian Summer. And if you can’t trust an old farmer who can you trust?

I’ve known plenty of old farmers – they’re usually pretty in touch with what Mother Nature has hiding up her skirts because they work with her all year long.
Not sure if it’s a coworker situation, or a boss/minions aspect – but yea…they got her nailed.
I’ve had about a week of colder & wet around here – so maybe it’s enough to get the colors to start to pop.

Best thing about fall is the colors. I wait all year for that. Then in another 6 weeks or so I’ll be waiting “all year” for spring blossoms. Go ahead. Just call me finicky.

Ok…yer finicky.
I really loved the spring blossoms this year, because I got to walk past ’em…so next year, in the spring, I have it to look forward to 😀

Would you believe that I had to wear my mittens before September 1? It is crazy early, this shift.
Get as dark as you need. I’m happy to bear witness.

Mittens in August – Brrrrrrr.
All the signs in my head are predicting a longer and colder than usual winter due to the earliness and intensity of this year’s shift. The Natural is giving all of us who care to listen extra warning to batten down the hatches for this winter.
So stock up on extra firewood, and convince the Mr. to extra insulate the kitty shelter he’s planning up there 😀

On it! He’s working on the “catio” as we speak. 🙂

The first sign of autumn around here is the yellowing of the soy fields. Next they will turn to gold then rust. Sign, time to wash the windows.

My windows are pretty much a wash at this point (see what I did there ;))
I’ve got a downtown apartment on the 2nd & 3rd floors with no outside access and semi-permanent screens attached to the outer window frame. I’d need major tools (and a really big ladder) to wash the outside panes.
I’ve learned to live with the dust.
