Winter is Coming

bookset

Yup.  I done it.  I stole the title of this blog post straight out of G.O.T.

But it’s not about the ever popular Game of Thrones, although I did become enough of a fan this summer to put the published books on my Kindle.

Should be a couple months of reading, at least…

I can feel it coming.  Winter, that is…not dragons or the Night King…

Well…maybe dragons…I’m still writing out a tutorial for my fellow Chainmaille Addicts…

I feel it every year, with varying intensity.  As summer slips into Autumn, this seasonal change plays merry havoc with my sensibilities.

Every year.

I feel the shift from growth to winter prep.  The trees, the grass, the bushes … everything shifts its focus.

I feel the heaviness.  I need more sleep.  I get very introspective, and start digging along the dark paths in my head.

It’s going to be a long winter here in Wisconsin based on how early this Autumn shift hit me…and the leaves haven’t started changing yet.  I’ll try not to get too dark and introspective here on the T&T.

The Completion of the Dragon Project

I’ve done it.

Really done it.

No more experimentation.  No more half-realized wing patterns.  No more going to bed at night dreaming of chainmaille weaves and rings and toes.

I have a fully upright, free-standing chainmaille dragon that screams D.R.A.G.O.N.

Just look at him:

I’m absurdly pleased with my little creation…and although he doesn’t actually fly or growl or toast mine enemies to a golden brown, I’m claiming the title of ‘Mother of Dragons.’

Daenerys – eat your heart out.  Mine isN’T CGI.

Ok…I’ll admit to being a Game of Thrones fan.  The new season starts on SUNDAY!

Black of Night, Black of Mood

Monday was NOT a good night.

A WE Energies

I don’t know if it was the three Atkins Peanut Butter Cups, the diet soda, or the last of the sugar free gummy bears.  I had a MASSIVE sweets craving, and I settled it in an appropriate Keto way…

sadly, too much sugar alcohols tend to force their way OUT…

It might have been the Red Wedding episode of Game of Thrones watched with the SQO.

Possibly – it was the new chainmaille pattern – 2 lengths of box chain stitched up the middle, using a mix of stretchy rubber rings and stainless steel links – for a watchband, that I kept weaving EVERY time I closed my eyes.

All I know is that I simply couldn’t sleep.

So I dug up an appropriately-themed earworm.

As a side note – I actually got to see the Black Moods live.  They’re an indie band out of Arizona (I think) and a couple of years ago they actually scraped together enough funds to do a tour.  I caught them at a bar in Cudahy, got a copy of their album, and have since listened to every song on that album at least a dozen times.

Enough times to be able to sing along, anyway…

As for the insomnia – I did, finally, manage to snag a couple of hours of sleep around 8am, complete with dreams of construction crews turning a perfectly good stretch of concrete into rubble.  No…wait…that part wasn’t a dream.  My street is getting torn to shit.
